Eastbrook School – Improving Accessibility with Fireco

Eastbrook School, a two-form entry primary school near Brighton, wanted to make it easier for pupils and staff to move around the building without compromising fire safety. Heavy fire doors throughout the school were difficult for young children to manage and often created barriers to smooth movement between classrooms and shared spaces.

To address this, Fireco supplied and installed DorMag Pro fire door retainers. The system safely holds fire doors open during normal use, improving accessibility and everyday movement throughout the school. If the fire alarm sounds, the retainers automatically release, allowing the doors to close and perform their vital fire protection role.

The solution helped create a more accessible environment for pupils while maintaining full fire safety compliance, supporting both safety and day-to-day practicality across the school.

“Our experience with Fireco has always been good and they’ve always been there for us. The staff are very helpful and good at listening. Whether by email or phone, the support is always outstanding. ”Sharon MorganPremises Manager
