Carter Synergy Publishes ESG Report 2025 Progress
Birmingham engineering specialist Carter Synergy has released its ESG Report 2025, highlighting measurable sustainability, governance and people‑focused progress achieved during 2024–2025.
The report marks a milestone year for the Carter Thermal Industries Group, which celebrates 80 years as a family‑owned engineering business with environmental, social and governance principles embedded into everyday operations.
A key achievement detailed in the ESG Report 2025 is the attainment of Net Zero operational status at the Lea Ford Road site, accomplished through continued investment in energy efficiency, electrification and low‑carbon building services. Across the Group, total emissions were reduced by 36.44% from baseline, alongside a 40.90% reduction in total energy consumption, demonstrating tangible environmental impact.
The report also outlines strengthened governance and data‑led decision‑making. During the year, Carter Synergy formalised Group Energy and Sustainable Procurement policies, enhanced emissions reporting, and implemented practical improvements including LED upgrades, improved sub‑metering, reduced natural gas use, and wider adoption of hybrid and heat pump technologies.
Investment in people and capability remains central to the business. Expanded apprenticeship opportunities, increased technical training and community employability initiatives reinforce the company’s commitment to long‑term skills development and inclusion. The continued development of the Net Zero, Showcase and ME&R Training Centre, alongside modernised laboratories, further supports low‑carbon engineering delivery for both internal projects and customers.
Looking ahead, Carter Synergy’s ESG focus will centre on deeper Scope 3 engagement, circular economy initiatives and embedding robust systems that drive practical, measurable sustainability outcomes as the Group enters its ninth decade.
