Surface Scan Expands to Full End-to-End Product Design and Manufacturing Service
Kent-based technology firm announces new design engineering capability, expanded equipment, and a complete product development offering: scan it, design it, make it, all under one roof.
Surface Scan, the UK-based 3D scanning and printing specialist, has announced a significant expansion of its services, moving from a scanning and rapid prototyping bureau into a full product design and manufacturing partner.
The expanded service means product developers, manufacturers, and inventors no longer need to coordinate between separate scanning bureaus, CAD studios, and production houses.
Surface Scan now provides a single point of contact across the full product journey: capturing existing geometry through professional-grade 3D scanning, developing or refining the design in CAD, prototyping and iterating in-house, and delivering finished parts in production quantities.
To deliver this, the company has hired a dedicated design engineer, Toby Allen, and invested in a Formlabs SLA resin printer, new high-performance engineering plastics including PEEK, and CNC machining capability (with more coming soon) — restructuring its offering to take clients from initial concept or reverse-engineered scan all the way through to finished, production-ready parts.
The company describes the offering simply: Scan it. Design it. Make it. All under one roof.
CEO and Founder Daniel Carson said, “We kept seeing the same thing: clients would come to us with a product challenge, we'd solve the scanning or printing piece, and then they'd disappear to find a designer or a manufacturer and lose weeks in the process. We've built the capability to hold the whole chain now. One conversation, one team, one result.”
The expansion builds on a track record that spans industries few would expect from a single workshop.
Surface Scan has produced parts and components for clients including Amazon, AllSaints, the NHS, and projects in Formula 1 and MotoGP, as well as work for Eurotunnel and a range of consumer product brands.
The company holds over 145 five-star reviews and serves clients across the UK from its Kent headquarters. With the new design and manufacturing capabilities in place, Surface Scan is now actively working with product founders, engineering teams, and brands who need a reliable partner from first idea to finished part.
