Cleaning & Boxing of Prom Dresses

The Prom Dress has recently taken centre stage!

With nearly all 16 year olds having a Prom ceremony now, there is much potential for looking after these beautiful outfits, especially the Prom Dress, so that this Princess Gown can be worn again in the future.

With ruffles, sparkles and delicate fabrics, this is not a dress to risk in your washing machine. So best advice is to take it to a Dry Cleaner that specialises in wedding dresses, who will take care of the ruffles and sparkles using gentle detergents and hand cleaning.

Equally important is how to look after & keep the dress after The Prom. It will not do well hanging in the wardrobe, being pulled on the hanger, flattened against other dresses and taking up acid from the wood & dyes that surround it. A plastic dress cover is not ideal either as it will drop small particles of plastic on the dress as it disintegrates over time.

The Empty Box Company has specialised in unique Dress Preservation Boxes, all handmade in the UK from special pH neutral board that will preserve the vibrant colour of the dress, & protect it from dust & disaster, in a pH neutral, breathable environment, so that The Prom dress will be kept perfectly for the next event. They are also environmentally friendly, to be kept for the years to come. Check out their website https://www.emptybox.co.uk/

Who knows when that dress might be needed again!
