TAWI improves heavy roll and metal component handling at ROCKWOOL

ROCKWOOL has improved heavy roll and metal component handling with ergonomic lifting solutions from TAWI. By introducing lifting trolleys and vacuum lifters, the stone wool insulation manufacturer has reduced physical strain, streamlined production processes and improved employee satisfaction. The project demonstrates how ergonomic material handling equipment can help manufacturers reduce manual handling risks, improve workplace safety and support more efficient production on the factory floor.

ROCKWOOL, a leading stone wool insulation manufacturer, needed a safer and more efficient way to handle heavy rolls and metal components during production. Existing manual handling methods were time-consuming and labour-intensive, placing physical demands on employees and affecting productivity.

To address these challenges, ROCKWOOL introduced TAWI lifting trolleys and vacuum lifters. The equipment supported easier manoeuvring of heavy rolls and metal parts, alongside secure lifting and positioning of metal components with less strain on operators.

TAWI mobile lifting trolleys provide battery-powered assistance for raising, moving and lowering loads. Their compact design allows operators to transport materials to and from production lines without being restricted to a single workstation. With tools available for different loads, the range supports ergonomic material handling across varied manufacturing tasks.

Depending on the application and tooling selected, TAWI lifting trolleys can also rotate, turn and tilt goods. For roll handling applications, this includes moving reels from a vertical to a horizontal position before mounting them onto a machine axis. This flexibility helps manufacturers adapt lifting equipment to their production requirements rather than relying on manual effort.

Vacuum lifting equipment complements mobile handling by using suction to grip, lift and position goods. Operators control the load through an ergonomic handle, reducing the effort involved in repetitive lifting. Different suction tools allow TAWI vacuum lifters to accommodate a variety of materials, shapes and handling applications.

At ROCKWOOL, the introduction of ergonomic lifting equipment reduced physical strain and helped minimise injury risks. Streamlined handling processes supported faster production, while employees reported greater job satisfaction as the physical demands of moving heavy materials decreased.

For manufacturers reviewing heavy component handling, the project illustrates the value of matching lifting equipment to both the load and the task. ROCKWOOL’s experience demonstrates how TAWI ergonomic lifting solutions can support production efficiency while putting employee wellbeing at the centre of material handling improvements.
