Optimistic outlook for UNTHA UK in 2012
Industry experts at shredding technology leader UNTHA UK have predicted strong performance for 2012, not just for the company but for the entire recycling and waste management sector.
Here, UNTHA UK managing director Chris Oldfield shared his forecasts for the year ahead, and explained what he’s got in store for one of the industry’s freshest brands.“2011 was the year that more and more organisations really started taking their approach to waste management seriously. A growing number of companies began looking for more efficient and cost-effective ways to utilise their waste, and because this momentum is gathering pace and the market for shredders is undoubtedly set to grow as a result. Because of this, innovations in shredding technology are not as much about new applications; instead engineering developments are allowing clients to work smarter and achieve more from their shredders.
“It all boils down to return on investment (ROI), and that is where the expertise of more experienced suppliers will shine through in 2012. With everything we’ve learned and the experiences we’ve gathered to date, we have a lot to share. If we can work with customers so that they increasingly see waste shredders as value-adding assets rather than simply capital outlay, the market is sure to develop further still.
“I’d like to also see standards continuously improve across the board to help the industry achieve the reputation it deserves. I believe professionals meeting and sharing knowledge at leading industry events and conferences such as RWM, will help to achieve this.”
The shredding specialist predicts that turnover for UNTHA UK will double in 2012; an ambitious outlook but one that is underpinned by some real facts. Chris continues: “With half a million pounds set aside for sales and marketing development, our expansion strategy for this year is very serious. We’re recruiting at the moment and plan to take on at least one more employee every month as 2012 unfolds.
“In the last six weeks we’ve secured some very significant shredder sales, which illustrates just how popular the big kit is going to be this year. We are being increasingly approached by customers with confidential waste destruction requirements, as our shredders really stand out from the crowd when used for this application.
“We’ve experienced a rise in the number of clients asking us to help them devise complete waste solutions too, which is why we’re continually enhancing our ever-growing network of high-quality engineering partners in the UK. This means we can concentrate on what we do best − shredding − but we can recommend robust material conveying and separating equipment too.
“The first quarter of 2012 will see us touring the UK to help existing clients work even more efficiently. We have always prided ourselves on our customer-facing approach to business, and if our engineering experts remain at the heart of clients’ businesses and if our technology continues to be developed to meet real industry requirements, then our competitive edge is cemented.”
