Cemented Tungsten Carbide

Cemented Tungsten Carbide

Tungsten carbide (WC) is an inorganic chemical compound (specifically, a carbide) containing equal parts of tungsten and carbon atoms. Colloquially, tungsten carbide is often simply called carbide. In its most basic form, it is a fine gray powder, but it can be pressed and formed into shapes for use in industrial machinery, tools, abrasives, as well as jewelry. Tungsten carbide is approximately three times stiffer than steel, with a Young’s modulus of approximately 550 GPa,[2] and is much denser than steel or titanium. It is comparable with corundum (α-Al2O3) or sapphire in hardness and can only be polished and finished with abrasives of superior hardness such as cubic boron nitride and diamond amongst others, in the form of powder, wheels, and compounds.
General Tungsten Carbide Wear Parts

General Tungsten Carbide Wear Parts

Tungsten carbide is used to make durable wear components. Its high hardness, 700 to 2000 Hv30 (84-94 RA), together with its resistance to extreme temperatures, corrosion and abrasion makes it invaluable in many industrial and engineering applications where it is used to increase component wear life.
Tungsten Carbide Oil & Gas Components

Tungsten Carbide Oil & Gas Components

Dymet Alloys is a supplier to the oil and gas industries, where the durability of hard metal products makes them suitable to use in the hostile subsea engineering environment. Tungsten carbide is used to manufacture extremely hardwearing components such as control valves, liners and bearing housings for use in exploration and flow control applications.
Tungsten Carbide Heading Dies

Tungsten Carbide Heading Dies

Dymet Alloys produce as-sintered tungsten carbide die inserts and blanks for use in hot and cold heading die tooling and forming tool applications. Inserts are made to order and can be supplied in different tungsten carbide material grades with up to a 25% Cobalt binder to meet our customers’ specific requirements to produce numerous bolts, screws and special fixings, in a variety of materials. We produce the die inserts and blanks in the as-sintered condition with the specific overall dimensions and special features our customers request ready for them to produce finished ground tooling.
Tungsten Carbide Bricks & Roof Tiles

Tungsten Carbide Bricks & Roof Tiles

With its anti-abrasive qualities, tungsten carbide is an ideal material to use in the manufacture of roof tiles and bricks.

Dymet Alloys manufactures a wide range of solid tungsten carbide and tungsten carbide faced wear resistant components including sleeved rollers, large and small slippers, slipper ends, cheek plates, curved and flat guide rails, tracks, rope guides, wear plates and mould liners.

We offer special wear resistant tungsten carbide grades for use on individual components and piece parts, and we can supply the components brazed, glued, or mechanically retained to steel backings.

We have CNC grinding and EDM facilities on site, which mean we can produce more complex components in house to meet customer’s requirements.
Press Tooling Components

Press Tooling Components

Dymet Alloys produces tungsten carbide material binder grades tailored to meet the demands for wear resistant and durable press tooling for a wide range of manufacturing and engineering sectors.

We manufacture a wide range of bespoke press tooling components, including high cobalt heading dies inserts, piercing dies, deep drawing dies, extrusion dies, stamping tools and punches. Individual tungsten carbide parts can be supplied either as an as-sintered pre-form, or as a finished ground component to meet a customer’s specific requirements.
Tooling

Tooling

Tungsten Carbide is an ideal material for making special tooling components that will last for a long time in a production environment. At Dymet Alloys we make a wide range of bespoke tungsten carbide hard metal tooling for a wide range of applications where strength and hardness are key requirements.

Wire & Cable

Wire & Cable

Dymet Alloys have been producing tungsten carbide dies and die inserts for use in the wire and cable industry since 1952. We have experience in making bespoke dies and rolls for a wide range of customer applications including making round and profiled wires and cables.
Tungsten Carbide Circular Saw & Groover Tips

Tungsten Carbide Circular Saw & Groover Tips

Dymet Alloys offer a wide range of tungsten carbide circular saw tip profiles and groover tips for both wood and metal cutting applications. Using dedicated mould tooling we produce a wide range of saw tip profiles to hold in stock and these can be found in our saw tip catalogue. We use a 6% Cobalt tungsten carbide material grade for our standard range of wood cutting circular saw and groover tip profiles and also offer alternative tungsten carbide grades for steel cutting and nail busting applications upon request.
Bespoke Tungsten Carbide Components

Bespoke Tungsten Carbide Components

The manufacture of bespoke solid tungsten carbide components is the most important element of our business. Many of our customers approach us with requests for bespoke components which they will use for applications across a wide range of engineering and industry sectors.

We have the engineering expertise, process equipment, grinding machinery and production capabilities all under one roof to supply a complete tungsten carbide solution to our customers.
Lathanated Tungsten

Lathanated Tungsten

Lathanated Tungsten is one of three main Tungsten materials available from Dymet Alloys.

Available in a rod and bar profile, Lanthanated Tungsten has good welding properties making the material particularly suitable for specialised applications such as the manufacture of flash lamps.

Lathanated Tungsten is available in stock sizes, ground on diameter and cut to a required overall length to form rods, bars, discs, pins and shaped electrodes.

Please give Dymet Alloys a call on +44 (0) 1252 517 651 for a quotation and delivery lead time.
Non − Sag Tungsten

Non − Sag Tungsten

Non Sag Tungsten is another of the materials available in a rod or bar profile. Non Sag Tungsten is a remarkably durable material making it particularly suitable for use in incandescent lamps. Non Sag has advantages over pure Tungsten for many applications, as it does not become as brittle at high temperatures.

We can supply Non Sag Tungsten, in stock sizes, ground to an exact diameter and length as required.

AKS Doped Tungsten

AKS Doped Tungsten

Similar to Non Sag Tungsten, AKS Doped Tungsten wire has the chemical elements of aluminium, potassium and silicon added which give it the special properties needed for applications such as incandescent lamps and heating elements.

Please give Dymet Alloys a call on +44 (0) 1252 517 651 for a quotation and delivery lead time.
Pure Tungsten

Pure Tungsten

Pure Tungsten is used for specialist welding electrodes and may also be used in lighting and medical equipment applications.

Pure Tungsten is available in stock sizes, ground on diameter and cut to a required overall length to form rods, bars, discs, pins and shaped electrodes.

Please give Dymet Alloys a call on +44 (0) 1252 517 651 for a quotation and delivery lead time.
