PlayQuest were delighted to be commissioned by Llanberis Community Council in Gwynedd, North Wales, to upgrade the existing surfacing at the Padarn Lake Play Area. The project involved the installation of our durable and attractive PlayBond Bonded Rubber Mulch, revitalising the popular lakeside play space and improving both safety and appearance.

Project Description

Located in the scenic surroundings of Llanberis, this project focused on renewing the worn wetpour surfacing at Padarn Lake Play Area. The existing bases were in poor condition, so PlayQuest supplied and installed PlayBond Bonded Rubber Mulch, a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution designed for long-term performance.

By installing directly over the existing wetpour, our team were able to save the client both time and money by avoiding full removal and disposal costs. In addition, old concrete edgings were removed where necessary to ensure a smooth, consistent finish across all play zones.

The finished surface now provides a soft, safe, and visually appealing play area that complements the natural beauty of the lakeside setting, offering children a fun and secure place to play all year round.

Completed in just three days, the surfacing upgrade has transformed Padarn Lake Play Area into a bright, modern, and low-maintenance space. The PlayBond finish not only enhances safety and comfort underfoot but also delivers a fresh, inviting look that perfectly suits the stunning backdrop of Snowdonia.

The project featured two popular timber play structures – our Twin PlayHouse with Clatterbridge & Slide and our Toddler PlayBoat – providing exciting play opportunities for pupils of all ages.

Project Description

PlayQuest worked closely with Pembrey CP School to deliver a brand-new play area that brings adventure and imagination to the heart of the playground.

The installation included our Twin PlayHouse with Clatterbridge & Slide and a Toddler PlayBoat, both built from high-quality, sustainable timber. Together, they provide a range of physical and imaginative play options – from climbing and balancing to role play and group games.

Thanks to the low Critical Fall Heights of both units, no additional surfacing was required, allowing the equipment to sit naturally on the existing grass area while maintaining full compliance with safety standards.

Outcome

The new play area has transformed a quiet corner of the school field into a lively, interactive space that supports physical development and social play. The project featured the supply and installation of our popular Junior PlayTime Multi-Play Frame, crafted from high-quality Radiata Pine Timber. This robust and versatile structure provides a range of play opportunities, encouraging balance, coordination, and imaginative play.

To complete the installation, grass matting was laid beneath the play frame to create a safe, natural-looking surface that blends perfectly with the pub’s outdoor setting.

The result is a bright, welcoming play space that adds family appeal to The Dane Bank Pub and gives children a safe and exciting place to explore while adults relax nearby.
