Digital Two Way Radio Hire

Digital Two Way Radio Hire

There are two basic formats of digital two-way radios (the protocols are NOT compatable) but ALL use the same speech codec - They all sound the exactly the same! There is no discernible difference in performance between either digital technologies. Digital speech quality is not as pure as Analogue, but the usable range is slightly greater and the digital speech processing means it is excellent for distinguishing human speech in very noisy environments; cuts out most general background noise.

LTE / PoC Radios

LTE / PoC Radios

Icom’s PoC (Push-to-Talk Over Cellular) radio system allows you to communicate with your two-way radio system over a 4G/LTE closed (secure) network. PoC radio offers instantaneous communication roaming over the pre-established cellular network so you can enjoy licence free nationwide coverage for your business. It does not require its own repeater or IP network and thereby reduces the cost of building and maintaining a wide area radio network.

• Nationwide, European* + Global* Coverage over 4G/LTE & 3G Networks (*local roaming charges may apply) • Full duplex communication. • Multiple User Communication. • Individual, group and All call. • High quality, clear audio. • Priority interrupt.
ATEX Two Way Radios

ATEX Two Way Radios

ATEX approved two way radio equipment meets the European Directive 94/9/EC, and provides a safe solution to radio communications for potentially explosive atmospheres.

ATEX radios may be coloured blue and marked with an ‘EX’ symbol indicating ATEX certification. ATEX approved radios are manufactured to very stringent requirements and high manufacturing standards to reduce or eliminate any risk of generating the tiniest spark as well as heat produced by the device. Able to withstand explosive atmospheres, such as mines and other potentially explosive or hazardous areas. When working in these sensitive environments, often exposed to oil and gas, any device or action that emits sparks or heat could cause a dangerous chemical reaction. From the radio casing to batteries, everything has to be constructed for safety, AND only ATEX approved accessories must be used with the correct radio. ATEX radios operate at a lower output power and are normally IP67 compliant to protect them from dust and allowing immersion in water.

The ATEX radio certification indicates that a radio is built to withstand explosive atmospheres, such as mines and other hazardous areas. When working in these sensitive environments, often exposed to oil and gases, any device or action that emits or cause, sparks or heat could cause a dangerous chemical reaction. This is why ATEX radios are particularly relevant within the process & petrochemical industries, and used in 'confined spaces'; often simply referred to as 'confined space radios'.

Being “Independent Two-way Radio Specialists” we can provide complete unbiased advice and support on your system.

Are your existing radios, or is your existing radio system not performing as expected, or perhaps as it used too?

Communications (Southern) Ltd.’s Engineers have worked in two-way radio systems engineering for most of their careers; on systems ranging from basic localised ‘on-site’ type systems to complex national coverage networks. Combined with using modern specialist radio communications test equipment, including our own multifunctional radio test-sets, Frequency Domain Reflectometers, etc we can carry out full system evaluations from simple ‘visual only’ inspections to detailed equipment and aerial system analyses.
