Raised Access Floors
EDP Data Centre Solutions supplies and installs the dynamic raised access floor system from Bergvik − Iso Floor.
Unlike traditional pedestal raised floors, Bergvik Iso Floor uses a steel sub-structure that is self-supporting and totally independent from the floor panels. As the floor panels are not required to provide the lateral stability Iso Floor uses up to 70% fewer pedestals which provides greater access to plenum infrastructure as there is less obstruction, this allows space for cable management and improve airflow.
The design of Iso Floor also allows the use of different sized floor tiles from the standard 600x600 tiles. This enables the space to be optimised, by doing so it is possible to achieve up to 25% more equipment within the same space when compared to a traditional floor.
The steel sub-structure also removes the need for expensive equipment stands and heavy equipment can be placed on the frame simply by adding additional beams and pedestals to match the weight load. The entire floor can also be grounded via just two grounding points.

Fibre Splicing
EDP Distribution supply fibre splicing and cleaving solutions from Fujikura.
Part of the installation process of a fibre network, it often requires the splicing of fibre cables together whether it be installing incoming fibres to pigtails in fibre trays, repairing damaged sections of cabling or extending existing cable runs.
When it comes to splicing the splice needs to be of the highest quality to minimise loss that could affect the performance of network. Fujikura is a leading manufacturer of splicing and cleaving equipment that produces the high-quality splices required for modern fibre networks. Their products offer features that not only produce the high-quality results needed but allow them to be produced in a time efficient manner. This is achieved with equipment that communicates with each other, handles fibre better and speeds up the entire splicing process.

Airflow Floor Grilles
Providing cold air to cool IT equipment within Data Centres with raised access floors is achieved through the floor grilles within the cold aisle. Not all floor grilles are effective, some result in short cycling or even negative airflow.
EDP Distribution offers the advanced Triad Floor Grille that has a unique design which features Hi-Plume stratification fins that disrupt the underfloor airflow allowing it to flow through a special hole pattern. The result is a positive airflow that “bends” the air outwards enabling to flow into the IT equipment and reach servers at the top of racks.

Thermal Audit
An effectively cooled Data Centre with good airflow management can have a huge impact on energy efficiency. To achieve this, airflow needs to be managed at raised floor, rack and row levels. Identifying areas that need improvement can be an issue, so EDP can perform a Thermal Audit on your Data Centre that can provide insights and baseline data to help identify areas requiring attention and the steps that would need to be taken to achieve improved Data Centre cooling optimisation.
