The most popular choice for standard glass balustrade systems with a handrail is 10mm toughened glass. For structural balustrade systems, 15mm toughened glass may be required, whereas, for frameless balustrade systems without a handrail, toughened laminated glass is recommended. The thickness needed will depend on usage, the height of fall, wind load, and the required KiloNewton rating.
