DMR Tier 3 (Digital Trunk) standard materialises at Wall to Wall
Wall to Wall Communications are pleased to announce that our Partners at Tait have just been Awarded the World’s First DMR Tier 3 Certificate.
After formal standardised testing of their infrastructure, The Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Association has given the green light to Tait Communications and has awarded the world’s first DMR Tier 3 interoperability certificate.DMR Tier 3 Standard (also knows as Digital Trunk) was developed to provide the easiest possible migration path from analogue trunk to digital trunk systems. DMR Tier 3 supports trunking communication in following frequency spectrum - 66 to 960MHz. A DMR Tier 3 digital platform can fully reuse all existing 12.5 kHz analogue channels using two-slot TDMA and can be integrated into your existing analogue network sites with only a small investment in new infrastructure. This is still half of the site infrastructure equipment required if compared to 6.25 kHz FDMA technology. In addition to this, DMR Tier 3 supports voice and short messaging handling (similar to MPT-1327) with built-in 128 character status messaging and short messaging with up to 288 bits of data in a variety of formats. It also supports packet data service in a variety of formats, including support for IPv4 and IPv6.
We at Wall to Wall have been waiting for this to happen and are quite excited, as it is another revolutionary industry development. We can finally consult on, design and install digital trunk systems (utilising existing Tait radio equipment and Hytera radio equipment from Q3 - Q4 of 2012).
