Reducing Manual Handling in the Cafe Industry

Advanced Handling launch PRONOMIC Service Lifter to the Cafe Industry, reducing the risk of manual handling injuries.

The PRONOMIC Service Lifter is being launched this May to the UK cafe industry to raise awareness of manual handling risks associated with lifting and handling commercial coffee machines.
Established materials handling manufacturer, Advanced Handling, is introducing a lightweight ergonomic trolley which provides an ideal solution for handling commercial coffee machines and provides an immediate and long term solution for cafe owners, coffee machine manufacturers and service engineers.

“There are the obvious health and safety risks within the cafe industry. However what appear lower priority risks can incur longer term costs for a business. With the average commercial coffee machine weighing between 25kg to 78kg, lifting and handling of these machines during installation, cleaning, and servicing places a higher risk of Muscular Skeletal Disorders (MSD’s) resulting in lower productivity,” explains Rebecca Dilloway-Jones, Advanced Handling, Sales and Marketing Manager.

The ergonomic mobile lifting trolleys from PRONOMIC have been designed principally for the operator, to ensure their health is maintained and they remain motivated to ensure continued productivity.

The PRONOMIC Service Lifter is easy to manually manoeuvre and features an electric lifting and lowering loading platform. The Lift&Drive base has large rear wheels to allow the trolley to be easily tilted backwards to turn in small and restricted space such as behind a bar or counter. Once the trolley and the platform are in position the coffee machine can be moved across onto the platform and secured with the safety strap provided.

The PRONOMIC Service Lifter is designed in three modular sections allowing it to be dismantled for use in a large car or van and therefore an essential handling solution for covering a number of locations. A rechargeable battery is supplied with Service Lifter which includes and in vehicle charger.

Advanced Handling have been designing and manufacturing from their UK site for over three decades and have provided material handling solutions for a wide range of industries including food and drink manufacturing and servicing. Managing Director, Mike Prince commented on the entrance into the cafe industry with the PRONOMIC Service Lifter as a ‘continuing development of the innovative approach Advanced Handling adopts and is part of the company’s success.’

The PRONOMIC Service Lifter will be on display at Caffe Culture Show, 15-16 May 2013 at Olympia, London. There will be regular demonstrations of the Service Lifer in operation from the Advanced Handling stand, L4.
