Air blast coolers

COST EFFECTIVE - Air Blast Coolers, otherwise known as Air to Water Coolers are the most cost effective way of cooling process water as don’t include any refrigeration running components.

Water is contained within a closed lid tank system, limiting any contact with air borne contaminants, keeping the fluid clean.

The water circuit within F&R’s air blast coolers are non-ferrous, therefore providing the external pipework is also non-ferrous, the water will less likely be affected by dissimilar metals reacting causing damage to the fluid circuit.

PACKAGED COOLERS

F&R Products are able to supply dry air coolers either as a packaged unit; i.e. one enclosure supplied with air/water heat exchanger, fan, pump, tank and controls as required or as a fan coil unit, with pumps, tanks etc. being supplied remotely on a separate skid or by end user.
F&R Products range of packaged air blast coolers can be supplied in various sizes from 1.5kW up to 200kW for a variety of small commercial through to major industrial applications.

FREE-STANDING DRY AIR COOLERS

Our free standing dry air coolers can be supplied with horizontal flat-bed, vertical and reduced footprint “V” type formation air cooled coils.  All models are efficient, economical and where fan speed or step controls are required, easy to operate.  Special attention has been given to their design to achieve optimum thermal efficiency as well as offering low noise versions.  Duties range from 10kW to 1000s of kW.

ADIABATIC SYSTEMS
Whilst dry air coolers will only cool water to +5°K above the dry bulb ambient, there is a further option which allows this form of cooling to achieve lower water temperatures down to +3°K above wet bulb ambient.  This is known as an adiabatic cooler, where when the dry bulb temperature exceeds the required setpoint temperature, a fine mist of water is sprayed onto the heat exchanger surface reducing the air temperature onto the cooling coil.  Adiabatic systems water evaporates or goes to drain, therefore there is no requirement for specialist water treatment.

APPLICATIONS
Applications are anywhere a process requires cool, clean water such as induction furnaces, hydraulic cooling, compressors, quench tanks, printing machines, vacuum pumps and many others.
