20 years ago we designed and installed this sports structure to house two tennis courts at Appeti Tennis in Canterbury, founded by Eb Appeti.

The ambition was to introduce tennis to as many people as possible in the local community and his relaxed, pay & play, zero membership approach intended to make it more accessible for all ages and abilities. It has proven to be a successful model that earned the centre both Clubmark and Beacon Status by the LTA for its work in promoting community tennis. Appeti Tennis continues to thrive and we are proud of the part we played.

By incorporating an indoor facility, Appeti Tennis has been able to provide better opportunities for every age and ability to discover this brilliant sport. The indoor courts are able to facilitate a year-round programme of activity and retain a team of committed professionals who are just as passionate about nurturing a love of tennis.

Eb explains, "Our commitment to providing a great environment has seen us become a destination centre for tennis in Canterbury and East Kent. We believe that tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone and our fresh approach to tennis has, to date, provided accessible tennis to over 25,000 children in Kent and Sussex.

There are no signs of this success slowing down and if the current spring clean is anything to go by, we would say that the future is looking as bright as the white fabric roof is soon going to be. In its two decades of intensive use, the steel-framed dome structure has not had a single service. It's still standing strong, as we would expect, but it's fair to say that a cleanse and polish is long overdue. As always, it is a pleasure to work with Eb and gives us great satisfaction to have been called back to brighten up the place. Just look at how much more natural light will be able to permeate the roof, which will make the centre look significantly more attractive but also make it significantly more energy efficient.

We take a great deal of pride in all our sports structures but the tennis stories that have evolved with this one is particularly thrilling.
