From Castle Grounds to Family Destination: A Playful Transformation at Dunollie

Nestled in the heart of Oban, Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds has always held historic charm but now, thanks to a creative collaboration with Sovereign Play, it’s become a magnet for local families and tourists alike.

Project Manager Tracy White and her team set out to enhance the site’s appeal by creating a dedicated play area that would encourage more visitors, especially young families, to explore all that Dunollie has to offer. After discovering Sovereign’s tailored solutions, it was a perfect match. “Sovereign offered the support and equipment that suited our needs and our budget,” Tracy shared.

From the outset, Sovereign’s team worked closely with the Dunollie staff to design a layout that made the most of the available space. Area Manager Ben Waine led the project, ensuring smooth communication and flexibility, even adapting plans mid-installation to include extra features.

Tracy praised the process, saying, “Ben and Sovereign were well organised, effective and efficient at communicating… even providing add-ons as we saw fit mid-installation.”

The result? A vibrant play zone featuring standout attractions like the Peaches adventure tower and the Himalayas rock climbing wall - instantly popular with local families. “We’ve already seen great footfall, and expect even more as summer picks up,” says Tracy.

This partnership between Sovereign and Dunollie didn’t just install play equipment - it brought a fresh energy to the grounds, inviting a new generation of visitors to explore, play, and connect with the historic setting.
