Delivering a High-Performance Workshop Floor -The Rugby Bodyshoppe Case Study
Polycote refurbished 579 m² of workshop flooring for The Rugby Bodyshoppe over a single weekend, preparing, repairing and coating the surface before adding clear safety line-marking. The upgraded floor is durable, easy to maintain and ready for heavy vehicle use. Installation slots for the new year are filling quickly, so contact us now to secure your dates.
When The Rugby Bodyshoppe contacted us, they needed a flooring upgrade that could withstand constant vehicle movement, heavy-duty equipment and regular exposure to chemicals. Their existing surface was tired, hard to keep clean and no longer reflected the standard of the workshop. They also made it clear that downtime needed to be minimal.
Planning the Project Around Their Schedule
We visited site and agreed a clear, two-day plan that would allow the team to resume work immediately afterwards. The project was scheduled over a weekend to avoid interrupting day-to-day operations and to ensure the workshop could be reopened first thing on Monday morning.
Day 1: Preparation and Repairs
On the Saturday, we prepared all 579 m². This included:
- Diamond grinding back to a clean, sound base.
- Applying OT Primer.
- Localised repairs using Easi-Fil to level and strengthen the surface.
By the end of day one, the floor was uniform, sound and ready for coating.
Day 2: Coating and Line-Marking
- On the Sunday, we installed our pure polyaspartic coating, Flortex Fastset. This system was selected specifically for its fast cure time, high durability and resistance to oils and chemicals, making it ideal for an automotive environment.
- Once cured, we finished by applying EPS Safety Yellow line marking. This helped define ten operational bays, including panel bays, prep areas, lift bays, alignment zones and a jig bay, creating clear working boundaries throughout the space.
Back to Operational Use by Monday
The workshop was ready to reopen as soon as the team arrived on Monday morning. The new flooring delivered an immediate impact - visually cleaner, safer, easier to maintain and designed specifically for high-traffic workshop use.
The Rugby Bodyshoppe were extremely pleased with how smoothly the turnaround was planned and executed, especially with no interruption to service.
