New Practical Fire Door Guide Released to Support Landlords and Property Managers

Fire safety practitioner and director of 1st Aid Fire Limited, Darren J Young, has released a new publication aimed at supporting landlords, housing officers and property managers in understanding fire door compliance within residential properties.

Titled Fire Doors – The No-Nonsense Guide, the book focuses on the practical elements most commonly encountered in HMOs and smaller residential buildings, where responsible persons are legally accountable for fire safety but may not have specialist technical training.

The guide covers:
• Door leaf basics
• Frame and door interface
• Ironmongery requirements
• Self-closing devices
• Gap tolerances and sealing
• Common installation and maintenance oversights

While fire doors form part of a wider compartmentation strategy, the book deliberately narrows its scope to the areas most frequently misunderstood in day-to-day property management.

Written in clear, accessible language, the aim is to help responsible persons recognise practical red flags and improve baseline compliance awareness across housing environments.

The paperback edition is available via Amazon:
