Encasement’s decorative column casing solutions

Decorative architectural casings are widely used in contemporary building design, offering a versatile, effective and stylish way to conceal structural steelwork and concrete support columns.

Practicality, versatility and aesthetics are central to Encasement’s Verta column casings, which have been installed across many sectors, including retail, education, healthcare, hotels, sport and leisure, and commercial refurbishment.

This versatility is driven by the wide range of materials and finishes available to architects and specifiers. From Circa and Quadra pre-formed MDF and ply casings, through to Polyma GRP, Gypra GRG and the Forma metal range, each allows an array of specification options to be accommodated, including shapes, sizes and finishes.

Circa and Quadra casings are manufactured from pre-formed MDF and plywood respectively, using UKTR compliant and sustainably sourced timbers and are designed purely for interior use.

Like other casings in the range, a wide choice of finish options is available, with decorative high-pressure laminate (HPL) being the most popular for both casing types as it is resistant to damage, scuffs and scratches.

Notable Circa and Quadra installations include Liverpool University, Gateshead International Stadium, and the Dame Kelly Holmes Sports Centre. While all Encasement column casings are suitable for interior applications, Polyma and Forma can also be used externally due to their weather resistance and durability.

Available in aluminium or stainless steel, Forma casings can be specified in circular, square, rectangular or hexagonal forms, as well as unique custom profiles. The wide choice of finishes includes PPC coatings in RAL colours, plus brushed, anodised, embossed and textured options.

Durability and colour choice are also features of Polyma GRP moulded casings. This method of production allows a high degree of design versatility with shape; size and colour options all open to specification to meet bespoke project requirements.

Projects including Erith’s Lime Wood Primary School and Winchester College together with Porsche West London and Cardiff’s Premier Inn demonstrate the versatility of bespoke Forma and Polyma column casings for both interior and exterior applications.
