Jacksons Launches UK’s First LPCB LPS 1673 Certified Fencing Range
Jacksons Fencing has become the first manufacturer in the UK to launch a range of fencing products certified to LPCB LPS 1673. The new attack rated timber fencing range introduces important new options for environments where appearance is just as important as protection.
The innovative range has been developed in response to changing security challenges and increasing demand for perimeter solutions that help safeguard people as well as property. Developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), LPS 1673 was created to assess a product's ability to delay violent forced entry attacks, providing valuable time for occupants to seek safety, activate emergency procedures, and enable an effective response.
Unlike traditional security standards, which are largely focused on preventing opportunist crime and unauthorised access, LPS 1673 addresses more determined threats, including violent home invasions, targeted attacks against high profile individuals, and other incidents where the objective is to harm occupants rather than simply gain entry.
As security becomes a growing consideration in the residential sector, specifiers are increasingly seeking solutions that deliver proven performance without compromising the appearance of a property. Jacksons' new timber range bridges that gap by combining independently tested attack resistance with the natural aesthetic expected in premium residential developments, private estates, and country homes.
The range is suited to a variety of applications, including high-net-worth residential properties, executive housing developments, private estates, and projects where enhanced security measures are required as part of a wider Designing Out Crime strategy. With Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification accreditation, it is also expected to appeal to architects, landscape architects, security consultants, and Designing Out Crime Officers looking for discreet perimeter protection solutions.
The initial certified portfolio includes Shadowline® A30E, Vertical Tongue & Groove A30E, Convex Tongue & Groove A30E, 12k Envirofence® A30E, and Jakoustic® A60E fencing systems.
Richard Flint, Technical and Commercial Lead for Physical Security at BRE, said:
"We are delighted that Jacksons have recognised the importance of not only protecting high risk individuals in their homes but extending that protection to the private spaces around their homes, their gardens, and chose to submit those fences for certification to our LPS 1673 standard.
Jacksons' new certified range of timber fences provide an important aesthetic layer demonstrated to provide an effective delay against violent intrusion by those intent on either doing harm to the occupant or wishing to target assets within the property.
Their certified fences can also provide an additional layer of forced entry protection to the rear of residential properties, an aspect that crime figures repeatedly show are more commonly targeted during burglaries."
LPS 1673 classifications are based on the attack methods resisted and the delay time achieved during testing. Products classified as A30 provide a minimum of 30 seconds of attack resistance, while A60 products provide a minimum of 60 seconds. Systems carrying the "E" designation have also demonstrated resistance to attack scenarios involving ramming using a fire extinguisher.
While these delay times may appear short, they can play a crucial role within a layered security strategy, creating vital intervention time that can make a meaningful difference during a security event.
By bringing LPCB LPS 1673 certified timber fencing to market, Jacksons is expanding the range of tested and certified perimeter security solutions available to the industry. The new range provides greater flexibility for specifiers seeking to balance security, aesthetics and landscape integration, establishing a new benchmark for residential perimeter protection while retaining the natural appearance that timber fencing is known for.
