Stannah add lift to new Waverley Infrastructure Development

Stannah Lift Services, based in Glasgow, have installed a bespoke scenic passenger lift into Edinburgh Waverley Station.

The Stannah 16 person hydraulic lift provides access from the central level to the new Platforms 1 and 20 below. This lift is bespoke, designed by Stannah, specifically for its unique location and has been built to Network Rail specifications. The fully automatic lift car moves within a glass-clad structure, supported by a steel framed shaft.  It provides a scenic view over the famous station that sits adjacent to Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and the Princes Street Gardens.

Waverley Station, originally opened in 1846, has been the subject of major investment.  Now the 14 million visitors per year that move through Scotland’s capital city station can enjoy the results of the development. New additions to the Station include two new platforms, extended retail area and improved public access.

Stannah in Scotland provide new bespoke large lifts, standard 6-16 person passenger lifts, disabled access platform lifts, stairlifts, goods lifts, major lift refurbishment and 24/7 lift maintenance for most types of lifts from all manufacturers and form part of a network of eleven Stannah branches across the UK.
