Interior Design
Our primary service is commercial interior design. We aim to assist you in visualising and maximising the potential of your available space by illustrating what it could look like and subsequently turning that vision into reality.
Our team will thoroughly review your brief and conduct a survey of the premises. From this information, we can create detailed plans, visuals, and mood boards that take into account your company's need for adaptable spaces, functional requirements, and the anticipated duration of occupancy in the building. Additionally, we will offer tailored recommendations on furniture, fixtures, fittings, and finishes.
Project Management
We collaborate closely with all our clients to manage every aspect of an interior design, refurbishment, and furniture supply project, ensuring complete peace of mind. From conception and design to meticulous specifications and delivery, we oversee it all.
Starting from initial feasibility assessments to preparing a comprehensive scope of works and itemised costing document, our committed team is dedicated to alleviating the burden and meticulously handling the details for you. With our extensive experience, we ensure that no stone is left unturned, resolving any issues promptly and effectively to guarantee that your project remains on schedule and within budget.

CMR Surgical is dedicated to making the advantages of minimal access surgery available to everyone who requires it. The company has emerged as a trailblazer in the industry, introducing the Versius surgical robot solution to fulfil a significant and unmet need.
The Challenge
As work practices evolved, accelerated by the pandemic, a growing number of individuals began utilising online video conferencing platforms like Teams to connect with colleagues working remotely. This shift led to an unwarranted level of disruption within the office environment, which CMR was eager to alleviate.
Consequently, CMR Surgical recognised the necessity for additional small meeting rooms to enable employees to conduct their calls without creating disturbances for their colleagues.
The Solution
Small acoustic booths were recommended to minimise the effects of noisy virtual meetings.
Optrys sourced the booths and coordinated the installation of four four-person units and two two-person spaces. Throughout the planning and installation phases, we maintained clear communication with CMR to ensure we fully understood their requirements.

Background
When RxCelerate decided to relocate to a new facility, they selected the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge, providing a completely blank canvas for their aspirations.
Background
As RxCelerate’s Financial Director, Nick Tate, explains, “we were eager to leave our mark on this building and create a flagship headquarters that truly feels like home.”
Nick, along with the senior team at RxCelerate, collaborated with Optry’s Mark Perriton to carefully outline the project requirements and determine how their vision would come to life throughout the development process.

Case Studies: Pitt Building
The Pitt Building is rich in history, having originally opened its doors in 1833. Over the past 20 years, it has established itself as one of Cambridge’s premier conference venues.
Optrys was tasked with two refurbishment projects at The Pitt Building. The first involved updating the first floor, which consists of three rooms requiring modernisation. The second project focused on the ground floor, an expansive area featuring modular furniture, where all the chairs needed replacing; the original chairs were supplied by Optrys two decades ago.
The Pitt Building boasts a sophisticated meeting and conference room facility. Given the significant changes in the market over the past 20 years, the centre's management recognised the importance of standing out in the fiercely competitive landscape of meeting and conference spaces in the heart of Cambridge. It was essential to stay ahead of the competition by offering high-quality facilities that not only distinguished themselves but also honoured the historic character of the building.
Case Studies: Plextek
Founded in the Cambridge Technology Cluster, Plextek is an innovative technology firm that has dedicated 35 years to assisting organisations in bringing highly technical products and services to market.
The reception area in their offices in Great Chesterford had remained unchanged for many years, leading to certain elements appearing tired and dated. The brief called for a complete refresh, which included introducing new furniture, colours, and signage. The goal was to create a welcoming and inviting environment for both clients and employees.
As a technology company, innovation permeates the very essence of Plextek's corporate culture; however, the existing reception area did not fully reflect these high-tech values.
Optrys was selected from a shortlist of three agencies. Plextek was impressed by the ideas we presented and appreciated our expertise in proposing concepts they had not considered themselves.
Case Studies: Springboard
Springboard specialises in creating and developing innovative technology from their headquarters just outside Cambridge.
They recently sought to establish their own office space for the first time, desiring a professional and inviting environment that seamlessly integrated an office setting with a dynamic laboratory.
After consulting with two other companies, Springboard decided to collaborate with Optrys, drawn by the expert guidance offered throughout the quotation process, along with prompt communication and comprehensive support.

Located in Cambridge within the St John’s Innovation Park, Springboard excels in the development of devices for regulated markets and is building an exceptional reputation for success.
Having successfully collaborated with Springboard on two previous office design and fit-out projects, Optrys was thrilled to partner with them once more for their latest project.
Case Studies: Tait Communications
Tait Communications provides essential communications infrastructure for public safety, utilities, transport, and oil & gas sectors across Europe and globally.
To begin with, Tait Communications sought support during their relocation, which included the design and establishment of their new premises. After a comprehensive design and fit-out process, Optrys was engaged to finalise the refurbishment of a second office.
Case Studies: U3AC (University of the Third Age)
The University of the Third Age (U3AC) is a charitable organisation dedicated to educating senior, often retired, members of society – those in the third ‘age’ of life. Its members relish the opportunity to learn for the sake of learning, with courses following the traditional academic calendar that commences in October.
The Challenge
The client faced two main challenges: the need for expanded office space and the impending expiry of their lease.
After exploring alternative premises in Cambridge, they opted to remain in their current location and utilise the upstairs area. Additionally, the building was in need of a cosmetic update, as it appeared somewhat worn.
The Solution
The upstairs office space, previously occupied by other tenants, was transformed into a second floor for U3AC. The renovation process began prior to the onset of Covid-19, but the client was eager to proceed regardless; this required a high degree of flexibility, and fortunately, the client facilitated a smoother transition.
We incorporated two additional meeting rooms, ensuring that all spaces featured openable windows to improve ventilation and accommodate air conditioning. The necessity for a larger area soon became apparent, leading us to integrate considerations for social distancing throughout both the planning and implementation phases.
Case Studies: VetCT
At VetCT, our mission is to provide reliable veterinary knowledge, support, and reassurance to veterinarians. We achieve this through innovative teleconsulting, teleradiology, and educational support services.
The Challenge
Post-pandemic, VetCT recognised that it had outgrown its office space and needed to relocate. Although situated in the prestigious incubator at Cambridge Science Innovation Park, the team felt disconnected from the vibrant university environment. The goal was to find a new office closer to the University Hub and the Veterinary School.
In the wake of Covid-19, VetCT understood the necessity to adapt its office design to align with the company's evolving work-from-home ethos. With a shift towards greater flexibility allowing staff to work remotely, the office environment needed to be reimagined to support this new approach.
The Solution
A spacious office was secured in central Cambridge on the West Campus, specifically within the Hauser Forum, conveniently located near the vet school. Collaborating closely with VetCT, we developed an office design that embraced a homeworking-friendly atmosphere. The new space was crafted to foster idea sharing, creativity, mentorship, and coaching, while also ensuring a comfortable and effective onboarding experience for new staff members.
Phil, the designer from Optrys, worked closely with VetCT throughout the design process, ensuring the layout incorporated adequate breakout areas, meeting rooms, and desk spaces tailored to their needs.
Mark, the Director of Optrys, devoted time to accompany VetCT staff on a trip to London, where they explored showrooms to assist in selecting the right furniture. His expert insights guided VetCT in choosing top-quality items in a cost-effective manner.
