Design to Build Service

Our in house design and engineering team will assess your requirements and provide FEED services, keeping you informed along the way.

Utilising SolidWorks CAD and FEA, we can make all the design adjustments you need. This design will then be made a reality by the production team, tested rigorously and certified by the appropriate bodies if required (DNV, BV, Lloyds etc.).

Build to Design Service

If you already have a design that you wish to build, we can manufacture to these designs - adhering to your tolerances and specifications.

We have on-site NDT services and can accommodate your site visits to allow you to see that our quality is assured, not just promised.

Engineering Consultancy

Our design and engineering team can turn your requirements into full solutions utilising the most up-to-date software to assess fitness for purpose. Mechanical, Structural, Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Electrical - you name it, we can help. We can provide schematics, drawings, operation manuals, FEA reports, design review documents and more.

Baskets

We manufacture baskets for general cargo carrying and various other purposes such as umbilical deployment.

C Plates

C-Plates are used to allow operators to safely temporarily suspend and captivate a vertical hanging load (typically a tool) above an open hole. C-Plates come in normal and heavy duty variants, with lifting and non-lifting capability. C-Plates can be manufactured in carbon and stainless steels. If we don’t have a specific C-Plate design already in our arsenal, rest assured our engineering team can quickly adapt.

Centralisers

Centralisers are used to keep one object within the centre of another - typically a pipe within a pipe. R.B.Ross has manufactured a wide variety of centralisers for myriad applications out of materials such as “Super Duplex” UNS S32760 and Aluminium Bronze Alloy, in addition to the common carbon and stainless steels.

Electric Core Saws

R.B.Ross manufactures it’s own in-house designed circular saw with integrated clamping table and rollers. Fabricated entirely from stainless steel, this saw has been specifically designed for cutting core samples, with a very high torque electric motor in the drivetrain.

Fitted with all the appropriate guarding you’d expect for a safety critical piece of machinery; this saw can accommodate blades of 355 mm up to 400 mm in diameter and can be fed with wax from the rear feed port to allow for a smoother cut. The whole package can be neatly collapsed for transport and storage, halving in size. UKCA / CE compliant.

Hatches

Typically found on Platforms and drilling vessels - R.B.Ross has manufactured hatches from small to large. We have a great track record in designing hatches to fit to awkward portals and have a range of designs with removable centres.

Hydaulic Vices

We can designn Hydraulic vices for industrial machining, featuring adjustable clamping ranges and hydraulically assisted clamping.

Lifting Clamps

Our “bread and butter”, R.B.Ross specialises in the manufacture of bespoke lifting clamps. Give us your parameters and we are bound to have a solution already in our catalogue.

Nitrogen Purged Canisters

R.B.Ross manufactures it’s own range of Nitrogen Purged Canisters for the pump/turbine/power generation industry. These canisters are able to be pressurised with nitrogen to provide an inert atmosphere for long term storage of sensitive equipment. We have designed and built canisters for a wide range of clients with varying geometry. These canisters can be specialised to suit your application to ensure the minimal amount of nitrogen is required.

Rigidisers

Rigidisers are typically used to resist the dislocation or displacement of a sensitive connection during transport / loading. R.B.Ross has manufactured custom rigidisers for a myriad of geometries. Our in-house engineering team can assess and simulate the design performance with a high degree of accuracy.

We have our own modular rigidiser, industry trialled and tested, which is capable of supporting both a shear sub and a latch, whilst being separable to allow for independent usage cases. It is 40% lighter than the traditional rigidiser set-up for such applications.

Spreader beams

Spreader beams are used to lift equipment and can isolate some of the lifting forces a typical slinging setup would place on the equipment. Spreader beams can also be made to allow for adjustment around the centre of gravity, to account for variations in payload. If you have a spreader beam requirement, we can help.

Transport Frames

R.B.Ross has manufactured transport frames for many different applications. We can provide products that are certified to standards such as DNV-ST-271/273 and ISO 10855. Some examples are:

Umbilical Handling Equipment

Fairleads (roller sheaves) are typically used to allow umbilicals to be hung from suspending structures while under load, without the risk of the umbilical exceeding it’s own bending limits.
Turndown arches are typically used to prevent damage to umbilical systems at the point where they are first clamped to a riser system. Our turndown arches are load rated and capable of quick assembly/disassembly to save rig time. We have a wide range of turndown arch radii and umbilical sizes.
