Surrey HGV Training School Wins Best HGV Training Company Award for Sixth Consecutive Year

GS Driver Training, based in Surrey, has been named Best HGV Training Company for the sixth year running — a record that underlines its position as one of the UK's most trusted professional driver training providers.
GS Driver Training, a DVSA test-standard driver training school operating from Surrey, has been awarded the title of Best HGV Training Company for the sixth consecutive year. The award recognises consistent excellence in training delivery, pass rates, customer service, and contribution to road safety across the UK's professional driving sector.
The school, founded and led by Gary Stevenson, offers a comprehensive range of vocational driver training programmes including Category C rigid HGV, Category C+E articulated lorry, Category C1 medium vehicle and ambulance training, PCV minibus and bus licences, Driver CPC initial qualification and periodic training, and tachograph compliance courses.
Gary Stevenson, founder of GS Driver Training, said:
"Winning this award once is something to be proud of. Winning it six times in a row tells you something about the culture we have built here — a genuine commitment to every student who walks through the door. We are not a factory. We keep our groups small, we invest in our vehicles and our instructors, and we do not move on until the driver is ready. That approach takes longer and costs more, but it produces better drivers and better pass rates, and that is what this industry needs."
The award comes at a critical time for the UK's road transport sector. The country continues to face a significant shortage of qualified HGV drivers, with industry bodies warning that the gap between supply and demand remains a structural challenge for logistics, retail, and public services. Training providers like GS Driver Training play a central role in addressing that shortage by bringing new drivers into the profession and keeping existing drivers compliant through CPC periodic training.
GS Driver Training offers both male and female instructors — an increasingly important factor for students who feel more comfortable learning with an instructor of the same gender. The school's flexible scheduling, including weekday and weekend courses, makes it accessible to those already in employment or managing family commitments.
The school's training vehicles include a modern fleet maintained to DVSA test standards, and all instructors are DBS-checked and fully insured. The school holds a 5-star rating across independent review platforms, with students consistently citing the quality of one-to-one instruction and the calm, professional approach of the teaching team.
About the award
The Best HGV Training Company award is presented annually by a panel of industry professionals assessing training quality, pass rates, customer satisfaction, and contribution to driver standards across the UK. GS Driver Training has held the title continuously since first winning it, a record unmatched by any other school in the South East.
