Removing Manual Handling from Spreadable Cheese Production with a Cobot Palletiser

Primula, part of the Kavli Group and known for its spreadable cheese in a tube, worked with Granta Automation to introduce a cobot palletiser that removed manual handling and gave staff direct control over pallet configurations.

Primula, part of the Kavli Group and well known for its spreadable cheese products, wanted to remove the manual handling involved in stacking finished product ready for despatch. Working with Granta Automation, the business introduced a cobot palletiser designed to work safely alongside staff without the need for full safety fencing.

A particular benefit for Primula's team has been the ability to create and adjust pallet configurations themselves as new product recipes and pack formats are introduced, rather than relying on outside specialists for every change - something Operations Support Manager Arman Ansari has highlighted as a clear improvement over previous approaches the business had considered.

Beyond removing manual lifting, the system has given the site more flexibility to adapt its palletising as its product range evolves, supporting a fast-moving food production environment where formats and recipes change regularly.
