Cobot Palletising for Dried Fruit, Nuts and Seeds at Community Foods
Community Foods, which packs dried fruit, nuts and seeds for retail and ingredient markets, introduced a Granta cobot palletiser expected to pay for itself within a little over a year.
Community Foods packs dried fruit, nuts and seeds both for retail packaging and the wider ingredients market, handling a wide variety of pack sizes and product types as part of its operation. Manual palletising across such a varied product range placed a heavy physical demand on staff.
Working with Granta Automation, Community Foods introduced a cobot palletiser to take on this repetitive handling. Operations Director Trevor Shaw has highlighted the strength of the expected return on investment, with the business anticipating payback in just over a year once labour savings and productivity gains are taken into account.
Handling varied dried food products - differing in weight, packaging and fragility - requires a palletising system flexible enough to adapt between formats quickly, which is where easy-programming software designed for non-specialist operators plays a significant role.
The project reflects a common pattern among food manufacturers: a fast payback driven by labour savings, reduced product damage and improved consistency. Granta Automation designs cobot palletising systems for food and ingredient producers across the UK. Visit our website or contact us today.
