Our sprinkler tank linings are manufactured from EPDM, this material is of a higher quality than traditional systems such as butyl rubber.

The sprinkler tanks inlet valve is closed and tagged, followed by the isolation and electrical tagging of all pumps and power supplies. The sprinkler tank is then drained over a 24 hour to 36 hour period, depending on the size of the vessel. This avoids any drains backing up and flooding the tank area. On completion of the draining, confined space and ventilation equipment are positioned at the tanks access point, and any permits or method statements are checked and signed.

Any remaining water, sediment or silt is removed using submersible pumps and wet vacuums. The tanks internal surfaces, including the walls and base are cleaned and any rust or debris is removed. A tank panel is then removed to allow access for the sprinkler tank lining. This is usually a ground level panel, this allows for ease of access. Internal tank connections such as the overflow and outlet fittings are removed and flange surfaces cleaned. The sprinkler tank lining is manufactured in one piece, unless a sump is present which may require installing in situ.

Our sprinkler tank repair system involves the physical repair of existing tank perforations, followed by a corrosion resistant coating to prevent any further corrosion or leakage. The following procedure is the most frequently used repair system, however other systems are available to suit each individual requirement.

Any remaining water, sediment or silt is removed using submersible pumps and wet vacuums. A mobile scaffold is then erected within the tank to allow surface preparation to commence. The tanks internal surface is prepared using blade scrapers and brushing followed by 3600psi jetting.

Nationwide Water Solutions carryout a wide range of associated sprinkler tank works. Due to the design of most sprinkler tanks, roof purlins can be partially submerged, leading to structural roof issues. These are often discovered during ROV surveys, and incorporated into sprinkler tank refurbishment works. We carryout complete sprinkler tank roof replacement, or if possible, replacement of existing roof purlins.

The above images are of a recent project, where the existing roof purlins had completely disintegrated. The existing tank was of a mastic sealed design, which we converted to a EPDM lining system. The lining system was installed on completion of the roof replacement works. New Z purlins were installed, followed by heavy duty box profile roof sheets. A new edging profile was installed externally to complete the project.

Sprinkler tank low level access housings are an essential component, in relation to tank access. Our engineers cut a 600mm access into a designated lower tank panel. This access is used for gas testing and initial entry. On completion of sprinkler tank refurbishment works, our low level access housing is installed around the 600mm access. Nationwide water solutions install new low level access housings to all refurbishment projects. Low level access housings allow safe initial entry after gas testing, as well as safe access for future maintenance or cleaning.

All low level access panels are manufactured to suit the curvature of the tank panels on specific sized tanks. All access housings are galvanised to prevent future corrosion, and come complete with a handy lifting handle.

Our low level access housings can be installed to existing sprinkler storage tanks. We simply require the tanks circumference, to manufacture a bespoke housing.
