InfraLab At-Line Moisture Analyzer

InfraLab At-Line Moisture Analyzer

The InfraLab e-Series At-Line Moisture Analyzer from NDC provides rapid accurate measurement of moisture in a wide variety of products presented in powder, flake or granule form.

Easy-to-use, the InfraLab requires no special operator skills, and takes just 5 seconds to make the analysis.

Using multi-wavelength NIR reflection, the InfraLab does not require contact with the product sample. The sample dish is placed on the turntable; the InfraLab automatically recognizes that it has been placed there and begins the analysis.

The InfraLab has its own substantial onboard data storage capacity (up to 10,000 sample files), but data can also be downloaded periodically to a USB memory stick or directly to a PC for analysis in a spreadsheet or other software. Alternatively, it connects via Ethernet to a networked PC where the data is stored and displayed and can also be integrated into a LIMS network.

The InfraLab e-Series has been designed to be used in a processing environment and features:

Easy-to-clean design using robust materials
Pass code protected user log in access
Rugged and robust enough to be used in a production area

The InfraLab is designed to be calibrated to your laboratory method such as Gravimetric Oven or Karl Fischer for Moisture. This means that you can enjoy laboratory accuracy without the costs, the chemicals or the time associated with lab methods. In short, InfraLab offers these key benefits:

Improvements to product quality and consistency by allowing more representative process sampling

Significant time and costs savings for routine QC analysis

Requires no special skills for routine use
FilmPro Infrared Transmission Gauge

FilmPro Infrared Transmission Gauge

NDC’s FilmPro™ intelligent infrared gauge is designed to provide accurate, repeatable, high-resolution thickness measurement for film, sheet and coated products covering a wide range of applications and processes. FilmPro is NDC’s most versatile infrared gauge to date and represents a single-gauge measurement solution for the film and coating applications. For example, it can measure clear, pigmented, voided / pearlized, or tinted products, or stripes running through the product. It can also measure the true thickness of voided, microporous or breathable films, in addition to their weight, and also derive density values. Costly barrier materials can also be measured with FilmPro such as Nylon, EVOH or PVDC simultaneously with other polymers such as PE, PP or Ionomer.

FilmPro delivers optimum measurement performance through its patented infrared design and world-class optical components. FilmPro has been engineered to provide reliable measurements in varying process or ambient conditions, such as:

Lighting fluctuation
Temperature variation
Humidity changes
Barometric pressure drift
Web flutter
Scanner mechanical run-out

Unlike beta or x-ray gauges, FilmPro is easily maintained and does not require special radiation licenses, protective guarding or interlocked safety gates. FilmPro is easy to install and its measurement accuracy is assured with its straightforward calibration techniques and utilities. FilmPro’s accuracy, reliability and performance represent NDC’s pedigree for advanced infrared measurement technology solutions, producing outstanding results for its customers.

Web Gauging Systems

Web Gauging Systems

The NDC TDi (Total Distributed Intelligence) Web Gauging System is based on a robust industrial architecture that ensures high reliability, low cost of ownership and straightforward installation. The TDi architecture supports intelligent sensors (iSensorsTM) and scanning frames (iFramesTM), with each device running its own compact yet powerful processor, called the D-BRICTM. This architecture not only supports fast Ethernet communications between the system components, but also provides fast commissioning with remote diagnostics capability.

NDC’s web gauging portfolio includes infrared, beta, x-ray, laser, gamma and optical measurement technologies. These gauges are all supported by the TDi platform and represent the widest range of measurement technologies available within the industrial gauging business.

The TDi platform also supports a complete package of controls for MD (machine direction) and APC (advanced profile controls). The control packages have been developed for a wide range of industrial web gauging applications including extrusion, converting, calendering and nonwovens. These control products provide improved quality and productivity while reducing costly scrap.

The TDi HMI (Human Machine Interface) contains an extensive library of operator and maintenance displays. These support fast process interpretation that drives quality, productivity and process results. In addition, the embedded maintenance displays ensure high system availability, accuracy and control performance. Together these build operator confidence and a sound ROI (Return on Investment) from the system.
Metals Gauging

Metals Gauging

Metals systema designed by NDC for the steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals processes based on its Total Distributed Intelligence (TDi) architecture. This successful architecture has been proven across thousands of different processes and applications since its introduction in 2006 and now represents the foundation of both the AccuRay and Rometer metals systems.

The typical environment in the metals industry demands that all the process equipment provide exceptionally high reliability and accuracy with straightforward installation and maintenance requirements. Often, because process equipment cannot be serviced while the line is operational, it’s essential that these systems deliver 100% uptime. NDC’s rugged TDi platform achieves this through reduced complexity, fewer parts, greater uptime and minimal maintenance requirements.

TDi Overview:

Engineered for the metals industry
Proven architecture
Reliable and maintainable
Full mill and plantwork integration
Low-cost installation
Fewer cabinets
Smart sensors and cameras
Malware resistant

So for outstanding performance from your metals processes, NDC’s AccuRay and Rometer systems provide the results you expect.
All NDC's thickness systems are backed by a dedicated worldwide Service and Parts organization available 24 hours, 7 days a week through the Service Hotline and Remote system access.
Length and Speed Encoders

Length and Speed Encoders

Converters of paper, film and foil products have applications where they need to tightly control the length and speed of product during production. Applications include continuous length measurement, differential speed control, cut-to-length control, product positioning, printing and coating application control, and other demands. Most manufacturers depend on the accuracy of their drive speeds or mechanical contact encoders.

But, mechanical encoders can lose contact on various product surfaces due to slippage or web vibration, and require frequent calibration because of mechanical wear and tear. A contact encoder with inaccuracies as much as 2% can cost a converter a significant amount of money due to product give-away, waste, maintenance and system downtime. To solve this problem, manufacturers have installed the LaserSpeed non-contact gauge on their production line to directly measure the length and speed of product. It is a direct replacement for error-prone mechanical contact encoders.

The LaserSpeed gauge uses advanced, laser-based technology to precisely measure the length and speed of product during production without making contact with the material. It projects a unique pattern on the surface of the product. As the product moves, light is scattered back to the LaserSpeed gauge. This information is translated into product speed and pulses are produced to determine the product length. Length and speed measurements are captured with better than ±0.05% accuracy and ±0.02% repeatability.

LaserSpeed gauges are used in a wide range of web and packaging converting processes for precisely measuring product length and speed at the slitter/rewinder, regulating coating/laminating applications, controlling critical length cutting operations, and monitoring web tension of products, to name a few.
