Bariatric Training Manikin
Heavy duty in construction, these manikins are suitable for use in a wide range of training scenarios. For example; hoisting/transfer practice within healthcare environments, RTC extrications, rescues and emergency evacuation drills. They’re even strong enough to be buried under concrete and steel lintels or placed under a vehicle!
To help achieve correct weight distribution and fluidity of movement, the bariatric manikins are built up using multiple layers of foam with 1/2 kg packets of steel shot sewn across the layers. Furthermore, each foam layer is covered in durable nylon enabling them to move over each other creating the feel of excess body fat.
eK-Liteâ„¢
The eK-Liteâ„¢ is a very lightweight and compact kneeling system specifically designed for practitioners who work in situations where space may be restricted and/or portability of equipment is a priority. Both stool and mat are foldable and fit inside a lightweight backpack style bag for ease of transportation.
The same ergonomic and biomechanical principles are at the heart of the design and development of both the eK-Liteâ„¢ and the established ErgoKneelerâ„¢. Both products enable the user to manage the postural forces that cause the physical stressing, strain and discomfort that occur during prolonged static kneeling. The result: greater working comfort, less musculoskeletal stressing and fatigue, less risk of cumulative damage to tissues and associated deterioration in musculoskeletal health. Both systems also possess individual properties that provide greater choice and problem solving capacity for managing the challenges that can occur in differing situations.
The eK-Liteâ„¢ is designed to work in harmony with the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ limb support as required.
ErgoKneelerâ„¢
The ErgoKneelerâ„¢ is a kneeling system that can provide comfort, support and ease of movement for people such as nurses, midwives, podiatrists, orthotists, therapists, care workers and educational staff who undertake tasks at a low level. It can assist the user in managing the postural stressing associated with kneeling, helping to reduce the cumulative strain and promote musculoskeletal health.
Moulded in polyurethane foam with active antibacterial properties, the ergonomic design alleviates the compression forces and postural discomfort associated with low working positions and promotes good spinal posture. Designed by a Chartered Physiotherapist and Back Care Adviser, the ErgoKneelerâ„¢ is the result of collaborative working with Spectrum Healthcare (UK) Ltd and The Design Unit, De Montfort University, Leicester.
ErgoRaiserâ„¢
The ErgoRaiserâ„¢ is a modular limb support designed to address the postural and comfort needs of both patient/client and practitioner. It is easy to use, has superior infection control properties and low maintenance costs.
With its versatile range of elevations and angles of support, the unique ErgoRaiserâ„¢ can provide comfortable support for a limb from either floor level or from raised surfaces such as a plinth, bed or table. The sturdy construction can also assist the practitioner in having both hands free to carry out the required health/care procedure.
Moulded in antimicrobial polyethylene and polyurethane, the smooth lines and open design of the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ ensure all areas are accessible for efficient and effective cleaning. The multi-positional, easy to clean support pad eliminates the ongoing expense and environmental impact of disposable slings, making the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ both economical and eco-friendly.
Weighing only 2kg, the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ has integral handles to enable easy moving and handling in all situations. The top module and pad may be stowed within the lower module to aid portability and storage. An optional shoulder strap is also available.
When used at floor level in conjunction with its sister product the ErgoKneelerâ„¢, the two devices form a very effective system for managing the physical difficulties of the entire kneeling posture. However, the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ also works well with other kneeling aids or simply by itself.
There are many settings where the ErgoRaiserâ„¢ has useful application including in acute and community healthcare, social care, occupational health, private practice and the wider community.
The ErgoRaiser™ is designed, developed and manufactured entirely in the United Kingdom – European Community Registered Design No. 002775023-001.
About us
Spectrum Healthcare (UK) Ltd specialises in providing evacuation and moving & handling equipment for hospitals, care homes, hospices, educational institutions, and other public or private facilities.
Our products are designed to prioritise the safety and comfort of both individuals and caregivers, while also ensuring adherence to legal standards like the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
We work closely with healthcare professionals to design and adapt evacuation solutions tailored to patients with complex care needs.
Our Products Include:
Evacuation & Rescue
We provide a range of affordable evacuation and rescue equipment, designed to assist in the safe removal of casualties and service users during emergencies.
Bariatric Equipment
Our bariatric equipment is designed to safely evacuate and move obese and overweight individuals, while safeguarding caregivers from injuries related to manual handling.
Moving & Handling
Our moving and handling equipment is specifically designed for comfort and safety, helping to minimise the risk of injury to both caregivers and the individuals being moved.
Seating & Low Working
Our work chairs and low-working solutions are ergonomically designed to provide optimal comfort for users while minimising the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
The global increase in obesity has led to greater demand for bariatric equipment, as healthcare and emergency services encounter challenges in moving and transporting bariatric individuals. Our bariatric equipment is specifically designed to ensure the safe evacuation and handling of these individuals, while also protecting staff from manual handling injuries. Recognising the variability in bariatric body mass, we offer equipment that effectively meets these diverse needs.
To combat the high rate of moving and handling injuries, which represent 40% of work-related sickness absences in health and social care, our equipment is crafted to minimise injury risk for both staff and patients.
We also provide a modular floor mat, developed through NHS Innovations, as a component of our fall injury prevention program. Our services extend throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland, with training and product demonstrations offered by a network of consultants and distributors across these regions.
