Cardboard Packaging

We stock a very wide range of corrugated cardboard from standard B Flute through to export grade material. As specialists in cardboard packaging we are able to advise on the type of cardboard best suited to your needs. We have materials which range from 1.5mm thick up to 9mm thick. These grades cater for small delicate presentation based packaging to standard B Flute materials through to CA double wall materials suitable for very heavy weight items. Our range of materials include both white & oyster coloured cardboard as well as standard brown board.

Foam Packaging Supplier

Wessex Packaging is your ideal foam packaging supplier. We use a wide range of foam materials in our production methods. Our team selects the most suitable material based on the design and on our customers’ needs as well as cost considerations.
We are able to manufacture many styles of foam packaging from simple ENDCAPS to internal flight case fittings.

Bespoke Packaging

At Wessex Packaging, we strongly believe in the advantages of bespoke packaging, which has many benefits. Over the last few decades we have built up vast experience in developing bespoke packaging for a vast range of items from tiny, delicate electronic ceramic items & PCBs to Mazda MX5 hardtops & MOD missile packs.

Die Cut Cartons

Wessex Packaging have been in the business since 1977. Our company has amassed a large number of 0427 (commonly referred to as pizza style) and 0421 type die cut carton tools. Our range of die cut cartons is approx. 150 different sizes which ensures a good choice to select from without having to pay any tooling charges. You can purchase your die cut cartons with or without foam fittings.

FEFCO Styles

FEFCO is an internationally applied system for corrugated and solid board packaging design. The name comes after The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) − a non-profit organisation representing the corrugated cardboard industry across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Polyurethane Foam Packaging

Most people will recognise polyurethane foams as the spongier types of foam that are available. We use this type of foam to provide a high cushioning factor. Polyurethane foam packaging is very often used in 0427 (pizza style) cartons in both plain and profiled forms. These cartons, combined with either plain or anti-static polyurethane foam are typically used for PCBs and other types of small electrical & ESD items.

Polyethylene Foam Packaging

There is a wide range of polyethylene foams on the market and we stock a number of these different grades to give our customers a wide choice and to be able to use the right foam for the right purpose. Polyethylene foams are typically about 28kg in density and therefore lend themselves very well to be used to provide good protection for all types of items especially larger & heavier items.
These types of foam come in varying thicknesses ie 25mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 100mm & 120mm. From these nominal thicknesses we are able to cut down or laminate up to infinite thicknesses….within reason! We can supply all of these foams in sheet form for example 2m x 1m or 2m x 1.2m.

Creasing & Slotting Machines

Creasing and slotting machines are essential for the work we do at Wessex Packaging. They allow us to increase the range of product styles we have on offer, providing you to choose the product that suits you best.
Wessex Packaging has 2 Rotary creaser / slitter machines and 2 slotting machines. They have the capability to produce a wide range FEFCO styles in a variety of materials.

Press Machines

Wessex Packaging manufactures products that are unrivalled in their quality. A big part of this is versatility, as packaging suppliers for a wide range of business sectors, we are often asked to press out a wide range of cardboard and foam packaging products for our customers.
We have invested in four different press machines which all have their own specific uses. These machines allow us to keep our offering both versatile and bespoke to each clients needs.

Band Knives

Band knife cutting machines are vital in the work we do. They allow us to cut a wide range of foam and cardboard packaging products quickly, cleanly and efficiently; helping us with the versatility we are known for.
At Wessex Packaging, we have three band knife machines. Two of these are set up with special blades to cut foam efficiently whilst producing the least amount of dust. This helps us tremendously. They allow us to cut foam packaging products such as packing foam quickly and accurately.
The third machine is a Robinson bandsaw; which has been set up with a blade designed to cut both cardboard and foam.

Routing

Alongside our press machines, we also have a routing machine which enables us to fabricate more complicated shapes out of foam. Additionally, it allows us to work with shapes where the depths required vary.
This machine is very adept at routing foams such as Plastazote which is widely regarded as the Rolls Royce of polyethylene foams and is often used in flight cases and similar items. This type of foam is extremely durable and lightweight. It also keeps its shape well, bouncing back into its original form when squashed.

Corrpad

Corrpad products are made from recycled paper and are fully recyclable after use. Our design and manufacturing capabilities offer an affordable solution for your packaging needs.

Corrpad is available in angles, channels, and flat sheets, which can be die-cut, pressed, and glued into molded shapes. In many cases, they can be crafted into fittings that mimic the function of foam inserts.

Corrugated Cardboard

We offer a comprehensive range of corrugated cardboard, from standard B Flute to export-grade materials. As cardboard packaging specialists, we can recommend the most suitable type for your needs. Thicknesses range from 1.5mm to 9mm, covering everything from delicate presentation packaging to heavy-duty CA double-wall materials. Our selection includes white, oyster, and standard brown boards.

We also supply block conductive cardboard for static-sensitive packaging in the electronics industry. Customisation is available with one- or two-colour printing for personalised cardboard packaging.

Welding & Gluing

In order to assemble cardboard & foam packs we use both hot melt glue and hot air welding. We use the latest technology hot glue guns. They use compressed air and as well high spec temperature controlled hot air guns for welding foam.

Printing

At Wessex Packaging, we’re well-known for our wide range of foam and cardboard packaging products. However, we are also very proficient at packaging design and printing.
We’re committed to always producing the highest quality products at all times; this includes the packaging we print. It is for this reason that we have invested in a Cooper printer which are renowned for the quality and excellent finish they provide.
We also use our Cooper printer in conjunction with specially manufactured rubber stereos to produce one or two colour prints on cardboard. As well as this, we also stock a standard range of ink colours but can match most pantone colours if required.

Wessex Packaging manufacture cardboard and foam packaging as well bespoke composite packs. We stock a wide range of packaging supplies in both cardboard and foam and can supply both cardboard and foam in sheet form in a many sizes and densities.
