Network Swich Cooling
EDP Distribution offers a range of solutions for cooling network switches. Due to their location in server racks; typically, at the top and rear of a server rack. They tend to ‘breathe’ hot exhaust air from servers. This can lead to them overheating which can result in downtime or even total failure.
EDP provides solutions that enables these switches to be cooled correctly. Purpose designed ducts enclose the switch and allow cool air from the front of the rack to be drawn into the switches. Solutions include HotLok SwitchFix and EDP SwitchDUCT.

Rack Security
EDP provides solutions to improve the security of racks housing IT equipment. Whilst security of data from cyberattacks is vital an area of security that often gets overlooked is the physical security of the equipment itself. Data Centres themselves are secure facilities, but once in the data hall how secure are the racks themselves? Rack manufacturers tend to use standard locks which are usually keyed the same from that manufacturer, meaning a key for one of their racks will unlock any of their racks.
Where there is a requirement to protect high-value asset EDP Distribution offers several options to provide Rack Access Control, allowing controlled access to the server racks. Know when your racks were accessed and who by. Receive alerts when access attempts are made, whether authorised or unauthorised, manage the security of rack proactively.

Raised Access Floors
EDP Data Centre Solutions supplies and installs the dynamic raised access floor system from Bergvik − Iso Floor.
Unlike traditional pedestal raised floors, Bergvik Iso Floor uses a steel sub-structure that is self-supporting and totally independent from the floor panels. As the floor panels are not required to provide the lateral stability Iso Floor uses up to 70% fewer pedestals which provides greater access to plenum infrastructure as there is less obstruction, this allows space for cable management and improve airflow.
The design of Iso Floor also allows the use of different sized floor tiles from the standard 600x600 tiles. This enables the space to be optimised, by doing so it is possible to achieve up to 25% more equipment within the same space when compared to a traditional floor.
The steel sub-structure also removes the need for expensive equipment stands and heavy equipment can be placed on the frame simply by adding additional beams and pedestals to match the weight load. The entire floor can also be grounded via just two grounding points.

Server Lifters
Installing IT equipment into server racks can be difficult. First the equipment needs to be brought to the rack, then due to the size and weight of the equipment it can often require two or more people to install the equipment. There are also the Health & Safety manual handling concerns to consider.
To aid this process EDP Distribution supplies a range of manual and battery-operated server lifters that provide easier manoeuvrability of IT equipment. Once at the rack the server lifter can position the equipment to the required height make the process of installing equipment safer and easier.
