Hampshires' Waxworks thriving with i-salon

Michelle Trotter, owner of Waxworks, set in the heart of Basingstoke, says that i-salon has helped her team maximise the business potential.
Michele had been keeping track of appointments, orders and important data by using pen and paper and a very basic computer programme, until an Integrity Software representative demonstrated their system to her. Impressed by what the software could do, Michele installed i-salon in July 2008 and has been thrilled with the results.
“Our old system looks like something from the 1950s compared with what we’ve got now,” Michele says. And i-salon’s state-of-the-art technology has made a measurable positive impact on Waxworks.
“Our no-shows have dropped by more than 50 per cent since setting up a text message appointment reminder service through i-salon,” Michele explains. “We’ve been surprised by the number of clients who phone us after receiving a text reminder to say they had forgotten about their booking the next day and need to re-arrange. If they have to cancel, this allows us to fill any empty slots in the day. It limits wasted time and keeps our clients happy.”
The appointments-booking element of i-salon has helped Michele and the Waxworks team get the most out of the salon’s opening hours too. Where her previous system only offered a minimum of 15-minute increments for appointments, Michele can set appointments through i-salon to reflect any length she chooses.
“We used to book 15 minutes for an eyebrow shape, but it’s a treatment that takes far less than that,” she says. “Now we can book ten-minute appointments for eyebrow shapes and instead of getting four clients an hour, we can fit in as many as six. It’s a subtle point but it makes a massive difference to our potential income at busy periods, potentially increasing our productivity by about 30 per cent. It allows us to use our time far more effectively.”
The details stored on i-salon also provide Michele with valuable data on the most frequently-booked treatments, best-selling retail products and vital client information, helping simplify everything from sales to stock control.
“I’ve found i-salon so easy to use,” says Michele. “As well as myself, all my therapists and receptionists are trained on the system. The four days of training Integrity Software gave us when we installed the software explained all the most important points and I’m planning on going on one of their refresher courses in the near future to learn more about the marketing elements of the programme too.
“Since installing i-salon I’ve saved time and money,” Michele sums up. “I would unreservedly recommend it to other salon owners. In fact I’ve already told both my hairdresser and my colourist about it, and their salons have taken it on.”
