Tarkett is just the ticket at the Metro Radio Arena

20 April 2011

The Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle is the largest concert and exhibition venue in the North East, and is ranked the 10th busiest music venue in the world by Pollstar magazine.

Corporate hospitality is an important function for this highly popular venue, so when one of the corporate lounges needed refurbishing, the owners, SMG, called on Tarkett to provide the new flooring.

Around 175m2 of Tarkett’s ID Premier light oak vinyl planks were specified, as Paul Tappenden, Marketing Director for SMG North East explained: “We chose this product to replace the old slotted wooden flooring because it had the look we wanted, but was more hard-wearing and resistant to spillages for this busy area.”

Tarkett’s ID Premier is a range of luxury vinyl tiles designed specifically for the retail and hospitality sectors where creating the right customer experience is paramount. Furniture, décor and lighting all play a part and the flooring can also help to set the mood. But its visual contribution is only part of the flooring’s role as function is vital too. Hospitality and retail environments need lasting strength to cope with heavy foot traffic while remaining easy to clean to keep lifecycle costs low and ensure they retain their visual appeal.

ID Premier features a glass fibre reinforced structure for enhanced dimensional stability, while the 0.7mm wear layer, with TopClean XP PUR reinforcement, provides exceptional durability and toughness, even in very heavy duty commercial applications. The TopClean XP surface treatment provides extreme resistance to scratches, abrasion, scuffing and staining. No wax or polish is needed for the life of the flooring, meaning easy, low cost maintenance with savings of up to 30%.

The ID Premier collection offers a choice of realistic finishes including the light, pure tones of Woods such as beech and maple through to the darker richer, grains of Midnight Oak and Zebrano. Stone effects include fine-textured marble and warm, subtle sandstone and limestone, while the Design collection offers a range of upbeat colours and a mix of authentic metallic and natural images, such as grass, leaves and pebbles. Used on their own or in combination, these finishes can help create truly individual and memorable interior environments.
