Cranage EMC and Safety is celebrating 20 years as a UKAS accredited test laboratory.

Cranage is proud to be appointed by UKAS to perform testing to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and certification to ISO/IEC 17065:2012, and we are currently celebrating our 20th anniversary of accreditation. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), is appointed by the government to assess organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. In short, UKAS checks the checkers.

Our UKAS accreditation (No.1833) gives manufacturers assurance that our team have been externally assessed as technically competent, and that our test methods and procedures are reliable and impartial. It also helps to confirm that our test results are accurate and reliable. As well as our team and processes, our accreditation incorporates quality systems addressed to the global certification standard, ISO 9001.

Our first UKAS scope of accreditation was just a few pages and mainly focused on EMC testing, with the standards including EN 55014-1 for conducted and radiated emissions, and EN 60601-1-2 for medical devices.

Today, our comprehensive UKAS scope includes EMC, Safety and Environmental standards across several sectors, including household, medical, lighting, road and rail. Our comprehensive facilities and services are all located in North Shropshire, allowing manufacturers to undertake a complete range of testing in one location. In addition to our EMC and Safety labs, our environmental chambers include temperature and humidity, salt spray, solar radiation, and Ingress Protection.
