Temporary Traffic Calmers get larger protection for heavy duty cables & pipes

03 February 2010

Power cables used on construction sites seem to be getting bigger and bulkier and as a consequence, more dangerous than ever, hence the need for damage protection products becomes ever more crucial.

Large diameter cables supplying all types of electrical equipment are often left  scattered and sometimes forgotten during the early stages of the site development. Cable protection becomes even more important when the initial construction is completed and work starts inside the building. Cables waiting to be fitted in roof spaces, under floors etc. are left straggling and unprotected until the housings are completed. This is where danger really lurks.

To help prevent such accidental damage, Vulcascot manufacture a range of surface laid, heavy duty, flexible cable protectors which are large enough to cover most standard cables or pipes. The choice of which Industrial section to use in such arduous conditions ultimately depends on the dimensions of the cables. The Industrial and TTC sections combine rugged material strength with maximum flexibility providing total protection to the cables, regardless of the type of traffic.

Vulcascot, the manufacturers of the Worlds most comprehensive range of surface laid, flexible cable protectors have just released their largest profile to date. The new Temporary Traffic Calmer section coded TTC/4 has a rectangular cavity measuring 27mm x 56mm and is large enough to accept most heavy duty cables.

Along with the highly popular Industrial range, the new TTC/4 has many safety features notably it has been  electrically tested for non conductivity to BS 903-C 500v,it is fire retardant and produces only low smoke and non toxic fume levels in the event of fire. The whole range is manufactured in accordance with  BS 476 Part 7 class 3 and its  European counter part.
