Beautymatch Helps Students Fashion their Beauty Career

28 February 2012

Final year students at the London College of Fashion have been given a boost to their prospects as they prepare to graduate, thanks to a career workshop given by recruitment specialist Beautymatch.

The seminar was the first in a series of college visits in which James Reed, head of Beautymatch, a division of iiaa, is talking to students about strategies to make themselves more attractive to potential employers.

The workshop for eighteen Foundation Degree Science, Beauty and Spa Management students included CV design advice, presentation tips for successful interview, a guide to different paths into the beauty industry.  It also covered the importance of post-graduate training to provide an edge over other jobseekers.

Course leader Yvonne Mills said the workshop was a resounding success: “James made it crystal clear what potential employers are looking for in applicants. He used real life experiences to add a reality check and by sharing these cases with the students he really captured their attention. They gained a valuable insight that they deemed entirely relevant to their industry.  I will definitely be requesting a second session for my first years next term when they have to find work placements.”

As a division of iiaa, Beautymatch has access to thousands of spas and salons nationwide, enabling the consultancy to find placements for both college graduates and experienced staff.  “Our pre-training feature gives therapists a measurable edge over other potential applicants and develops skills that provide a great foundation for their ongoing career,” said James.
